Hi I'm Chloe, 22, currently studying illustration at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, UK.
My work is inspired by everything from movies and music to fine art and history.
Any questions, feel free to ask!
This just happened by accident but I like it..

Just a quick animation experiment using Photoshop. I’m only just learning new ways of animating..I wish I’d taught myself a bit sooner!! But yeah..this rough clip gives an idea of how the animation would/will look (if I get around to doing a decent length piece); really vintage looking with a collage effect.

There are so many ways of telling children’s stories and fairytales like this have been retold and reinterpreted a bazillion times, but I really wanted this to be quite traditional looking; celebrating traditional fairy tales.

So I’m doing a narrative project on Little Red Riding Hood and just randomly decided to have a go at tailoring the illustration to a book cover. So I used the template and brief given by the Penguin Design Awards. Slightly annoyed that I didn’t think of doing this sooner as the competition deadline was last month but hey ho. Still something to stick in the old portfolio..

BLUUUUUURB! My circus book is finally done..sent it off to blurb and here is the final product that arrived today..how exciting!! Really pleased with how it’s turned out - was worried the colours wouldn’t be as vibrant when printed but it looks good! ^_^

Another double page spread completed for the story I’m currently working on. I’m surprised how quick it’s all coming together..I guess this is due to the smaller size pages and also..I wanted to keep the compositions quite simple. However, it’s the attention to detail I’m really focusing on for this book.

“Mr. Montgomery, master of magic; the tale of his audience is somewhat tragic.”

Had a sudden urge to create a creepy looking magician. Really happy with how this character has turned out; first time I’ve really thought about colour when showing personality..I’m also really happy with the little details - I hope this makes it that little bit more interesting for viewers to look at.

I’m thinking of writing a little story about him and selling it in the form of small handmade books..

So recently I’ve just been turning one of my digital characters into 3D..it’s really time consuming but the detail really pays off and it’s really therapeutic sitting there gluing down beads for hours ^_^

Today I’ve been developing two characters for a poster design, in collaboration with a friend of mine who is redesigning the Salem Church in Leeds to make it an entertainment venue for his final uni project. The idea is to promote a would-be 1920’s inspired theatre, where the main concept is a sort of modern day vaudeville variety show. I came up with these two characters as the main illustration for a poster. I’ve also been thinking of ways I could turn it into a 3D promotional piece which I will experiment more with later!
